Nematsdarin Fm

Period:
Carboniferous

Age Interval:
Gzhelian (C? nm), Sh1

Province:
SE Tajik (SW Pamir)

Type Locality and Naming

Includes in Shadarlan and Schugnan ranges. It was identified in 1968 by V.P. Bulin and G.V. Kuznetsov.

Synonym: Nematsdarinskaya suite, Немацдаринская свита

Reference section:

Lithology and Thickness

It consists of metamorphosed gray quartz-chlorite schists and quartzitic sandstones containing interlayers of marbleized limestones. The incomplete thickness is 600 m.

Lithology Pattern:
Sandy limestone

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

In other cases, it has tectonic contacts with the surrounding rocks.

Upper contact

Regional extent

It is distributed in the South-West Pamir on small areas. The formation, in most cases, occurs in the form of remnants of the roof of the Shugnan intrusive complex, belonging to the Lower Cretaceous Pamir-Shugnan complex.

Fossils

In the slates exposed on Peak Terboy and at the mouth of the Vardhidz River, which G.V. Kuznetsov attributes to the Nematsdarin Fm (немацдаринской свите), single Carboniferous spores Zonotriletes suberenatus Waltz., Z. crassiptaris Waltz., Lepidozonotriletes latispinus Lib., Trematozonotriletes irregularis (Andr.) Jsch. (determinations of I.A. Siversova) were found.

Age

To date, it has been studied very poorly. On this basis, the Nematsdarin Fm is conditionally attributed to the Carboniferous.
